I have a question for everyone: what methods are used to conduct regular inspections on ethylene, propylene, C4, and C5 storage tanks?
Macro inspection, surface flaw detection, and wall thickness measurement are necessary; hardness testing, internal weld defect detection, metallography, and column verticality inspection may be added if required
Okay, thank you. I’ve learned something new. In this case, the equipment can only be replaced after passing an internal inspection; is there no way to conduct an external inspection?
This wasn’t decided by myself. It is necessary to strictly follow Chapter 8 of TSG21, the Regulations on Fixed Pressure Vessels. Furthermore, the inspection agency responsible for the equipment has specific guidelines for regular inspections; Chapter 8 of the Solid Waste Regulations only outlines the basic requirements, while the guidelines may include additional inspection items.
Generally, an internal inspection is required, as most defects that occur during use appear on the inner surface.

If the container allows for a certain increase in pressure, pressure retention conditions can be utilized for external acoustic emission testing; if there are no issues, it may not be necessary to open the container
