Heat treatment for welding 15CrMo and 304 dissimilar steels

For welding 15CrMo and 304, ERNiCr-3 wire is used. Is preheating or heat treatment required for the welding? In actual production, some equipment manufacturers carry out preheating and post-weld heat treatment, while others do not perform either preheating or heat treatment. Are there any standard regulations regarding this?

This pressure-bearing weld is rather unusual; it’s better to avoid heat treatment as much as possible.

Personally, I recommend performing a stress-relief heat treatment on the 15CrMo material by surfacing it with ERNiCr-3 material to a thickness of 3 mm, and using welding materials compatible with 304 for welding.
