Our company currently has 20 enamel towers, and the normal operating condition inside these towers is at absolute pressure. Some tower sections feature a jacketed structure; during operation, about 3 kilograms of steam is passed through the jacket for heating. Once a certain temperature is reached, circulating water is used to cool down the system (the reaction taking place inside the tower is exothermic). This enamel equipment is manufactured as a pressure vessel. However, due to the processing techniques used in enamel equipment, it is not possible to achieve full single-sided penetration in the weld between the jacket and the main body; the butt joints cannot be fully aligned due to local deformation caused by the enamel coating, resulting in failed ultrasonic inspections and incomplete weld penetration. I’m seeking help from experts: are there any other heating methods that can be used for the jacket of enamel tower sections, such as coiled tubes? Thank you!
A jacket is the most cost-effective solution; the situation you described can only be attributed to poor manufacturing by the manufacturer. Additionally, there are also semi-tube types of enamel jackets.
