Isn’t this a disc washer? . .
The disc springs we use are similar to spring washers. I’ve never seen this before.
It’s not a disc spring; it’s a KETEC DISC washer used in conjunction with a torque wrench, and its function is to even out the torque on each bolt.
The image shows what appears to be a Kaitek hydraulic tension washer, not a disc spring. The hydraulic expansion gaskets of KETEC operate on a similar principle to the locking gaskets of Nord-Lock. In other words, a certain load is applied to the nut using a hydraulic tensioner; through the deformation of the tension washer, the bolt and nut are brought into a locked state, ensuring that the load on each bolt remains consistent. The working mechanism of the disc spring is as follows: through the deformation of its compressed height, it exerts a counterforce equal to the preload force of the bolt; when the bolt creeps or loosens, this counterforce compensates for that change, thereby maintaining the integrity of the seal. The aforementioned products have something in common: they all serve to prevent bolts from loosening and to pre-tighten them. Different aspects: Regarding bolt force, hydraulic tension washers offer no compensation in situations with temperature or stress variations, whereas disc springs can provide compensation.
