In a horizontal container, the direction of liquid movement is perpendicular to the direction of gravity, which facilitates sedimentation and separation, and ensures good stability of the liquid surface; However, it has a small gas-liquid separation space, occupies a large area, and is not convenient to install at a high elevation. Horizontal tanks are recommended for the tower top reflux tank, gasoline-kerosene washing and sedimentation tank, liquid intermediate buffer tank, and oil-water separation tank. Vertical containers have a large gas-liquid separation volume, which facilitates the continuous separation of the intermediate mixing layer; they require less space and can be easily installed at a high height ; However, its liquid surface stability is inferior to that of horizontal containers. Gas buffer tanks, gas washing tanks, gas liquid separation tanks, and diesel washing and sedimentation tanks are recommended to use this type of container.
