The current low-alloy steel cylinder section has a deformation rate of over 5%; according to GB/T150.4-2011, heat treatment is required to restore the material’s properties. Since the equipment itself has welding test plates, should these plates also be subjected to heat treatment along with the cylinder section in order to restore its material properties? I kindly ask for the guidance of all teachers.
If the equipment also requires stress-relief heat treatment, this test piece can be heat-treated together with the equipment at the end. If your equipment does not require heat treatment, then your test plates must definitely be heat-treated along with the tube sections
Ultimately, overall heat treatment is required; in that case, it should be applied during the final heat treatment. If only this tube section needs heat treatment, then it should be treated during the heat treatment of that section. For the welded specimens, it is sufficient to ensure that they end up in the same heat treatment state as the equipment.
Refer to GB150.4, clause 9.1.1: Heat treatment for restoring the properties of materials requires the use of heat-treated test specimens. Since you are using welding test specimens, they can be combined with the heat-treated test specimens and treated in the same furnace. Depending on the type of heat treatment, attention must also be paid to the coverage of weld assessments.
Based on the owner’s description, the equipment has two type of test plates: the tube sections require heat-treated test plates of the base material due to excessive deformation rates, while for other reasons, the equipment also needs to have product welding test plates – these are two types of test plates with different purposes. Whether the equipment undergoes post-weld heat treatment or not, the product welding test plates do not require, nor is it necessary, to undergo heat treatment to restore their material properties along with the tube sections.

I believe that the test pieces for cylinder sections should not only undergo heat treatment to restore their properties, but also stress-relief heat treatment in conjunction with the equipment itself. The purposes of the two heat treatments are different.
It seems the original poster didn’t mention that the equipment needs to undergo stress-relief heat treatment. The question posed by the poster is whether the welded test pieces of the product also need to go through heat treatment to restore their material properties.
Oh, it should be sufficient to use a test piece that consists only of that single section during the heat treatment to restore the properties of the tube section; there is no need to use a test piece with welded components.
I think the same way; the purposes of the two test plates are different.
Is the temperature for heat treatment to restore performance the same as that for post-weld heat treatment? If so, even the heat treatments can be combined.
