Under what circumstances will a design institute prepare a stress vessel strength calculation sheet (process equipment design calculation sheet)?
Now, at the special inspection office, any supervision and inspection requires examination of the drawings and calculation sheets; in addition, these calculation sheets are also needed by users when applying for installation approval and usage permits.
For any pressure vessel, a calculation document is prepared; it is provided to the user only in cases where it is regulated by relevant standards, otherwise it is kept for internal archives.
A strength calculation document is essential. According to the latest 2016 version of the Safety Technical Inspection Regulations for Fixed Pressure Vessels, this document must be provided to the user at the time of handover. Additionally, during regular inspections, it is required as part of the document review process
Our approach is to provide both the atmospheric-pressure containers and storage tanks, with signatures but no stamps on the containers.
In accordance with the requirements of the Large Capacity Vessels Regulations, at the time of departure from the factory or completion of construction, the manufacturing unit shall provide the user unit with at least the following technical documents. . . . . (4) Pressure vessel design documents provided by the design unit. The specific contents of the design documents are specified in 3.1.4.1: (1) The design documents for pressure vessels include a risk assessment report (if necessary), strength calculation sheets or stress analysis reports, design drawings, manufacturing technical documents, and if required, instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance as well. (2) For pressure vessels equipped with overpressure relief devices such as safety valves and burst discs, the design documents shall also include calculations regarding the safe relief volume of the pressure vessel, the discharge capacity of the safety valve, and the discharge area of the burst disc. When simulation calculations using software are not possible, the design unit shall, in consultation with the client who commissioned the design or the user unit, decide on the appropriate overpressure relief device to use.
Does that mean that design calculations are required for pressure vessels of all categories, namely category 1, category 2, and category 3?
Calculations must be prepared for all pressure vessels within the scope of the fixed capacity regulations
As part of the design documents, the calculation sheet must of course be provided along with the design drawings. I have a new question: is it necessary to include a design-specific seal on the cover of the strength calculation document? The specifications don’t specify this clearly, but if we don’t stamp it, the inspection won’t be approved.
