The equipment operates at a pressure of 3.6 MPa and a temperature of 280 degrees; its design pressure is 4.0 MPa and its design temperature is 300 degrees. The media used are hydrogen, fatty acids, and catalysts. May I use composite plates S31603 and Q345R? Based on the calculations, with a nominal thickness of 4 24, is heat treatment required? Should hydrogen corrosion be considered? Urgent need. Thank you!
With stainless steel composite panels, there is no need to worry about hydrogen corrosion, and heat treatment is also not necessary for this thickness

For hydrogen corrosion, please refer to Article 7.8.3 of HG/T20581-2011. 1. According to the standard specifications and the conditions provided by the poster, it can be determined that this is a hydrogen corrosion environment. 2. However, the presence of such an environment does not necessarily mean corrosion will occur; austenitic stainless steel does not require heat treatment. Refer to the requirements in the standards ; In my personal opinion, since hydrogen molecules are small, I’m not sure whether they can pass through stainless steel and reach the carbon steel side. If not, heat treatment is not necessary.
Check the hydrogen partial pressure and Nelson curve to determine whether hydrogen corrosion is present; It is more resistant to hydrogen corrosion after heat treatment than without it. Please judge for yourself!
