500m3 must be a spherical tank; vertical storage tanks of 100m3+ are already quite large – I’ve never seen any larger ones; they’re usually arranged in rows. I’ve also never seen spherical tanks used for liquid oxygen; liquid oxygen requires storage tanks at low temperatures, with a vacuum layer on the outside. If such tanks are too large, the risk becomes extremely high, as they represent a major hazard source. No steel material can meet the requirements for a 500m3 cryogenic storage tank, right? Is the owner developing some new technology that requires type testing and registration with the authorities?
