Is double-sided welding mandatory for the welding joint between the pressure vessel head and the cylinder? Are there any standards that permit single-sided welding in such cases?
For pressure vessels that are subject to inspection requirements, not only must double-sided welding be performed, but flaw detection is also necessary.
The so-called double-sided or single-sided welding is determined solely by the type of groove you use.

For Type A and Type B joints, double-sided welding should be used whenever possible; if that is not feasible, single-sided welding with double-sided formation can be employed, or even a structure with gussets can be used. Ensure full penetration.
