What is the cause of flue gas leakage at the root of the acoustic soot blower in the waste heat boiler of a catalytic cracking unit? How to handle it
It could be dew point corrosion; over time, the moisture and corrosive gases in the flue gas reach the dew point
All waste heat boilers are pressurized boilers; check whether the packing is properly tightened, and also verify that the sealing air flow isn’t set too low.
The root area of the soot blower is well insulated, so corrosion due to leakage points should not occur in theory
Traces of the catalyst are evident. There is obvious smoke when touched by hand
There are leaks everywhere; this is a system issue. During maintenance, check all such welds
Dew point corrosion, as well as corrosion caused by scaling at the outlet of soot blowers; there’s also the issue of gases containing liquid droplets, and our facility often encounters this problem as well
There are many factors that influence dew point corrosion: flue gas temperature, fuel gas composition, equipment material, and insulation performance. Another factor that is often overlooked is the oxygen content in the flue gas; an increase in oxygen content raises the temperature at which dew point corrosion occurs.
