Project background: Wuxi Linghang Filter Equipment Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Luqing Petrochemical (Weifang) in March 2018 regarding the use of shallow sand filters in a bypass filtration system, with a total water flow rate of 2000 m3/h. Industry impact: Wuxi Linghang Filtration Equipment Co., Ltd. is a new-type enterprise dedicated to the research and development of shallow sand filters and cartridge filters. The signing of this project contract marks the official entry of Wuxi Linghang Filtration Equipment Co., Ltd.’s shallow sand filters into China’s heavy petrochemical industry. Design of shallow sand filters: Electrical control – Wuxi Linghang Filtration Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Linghang Filtration) ensures full automation of the overall operating system of these shallow sand filters. It displays in real time important parameters such as inlet and outlet water pressures, pressure differences, temperature, flow rate, and turbidity. These data are transmitted to the operator’s control room via DCS, with no signal interference, and the accuracy error is within one thousandth. Mechanical design – In view of the special water quality requirements in the papermaking industry, the water distribution and collection devices of shallow sand filters are creatively designed with 90-degree bends to ensure adequate distribution of water as well as efficient collection of the treated water. The overall material used is a wedge-shaped wire mesh with a thicker outer layer and a thinner inner layer, which helps to overcome common wear issues and significantly extends the device’s lifespan.
