I would like to ask the experts: are there any requirements regarding material re-inspection and product welding test plates in ASME Section VIII-1? If so, please let me know the source. Thank you
It is specified in the design drawings. . . .
I would like to ask you – are there any requirements regarding this in the standards? If there is a request, I will definitely add the execution; if there’s no request, doing so would increase costs and the boss won’t approve it. Thank you
1. Re-inspection of materials: The United States operates under a legal system; it is not a place where products are made carelessly, so the regulations do not require re-inspection of materials. The person responsible for the problem is accountable for it; that is, if there’s an issue with the materials, it’s the material manufacturer’s responsibility. In our country, even if there’s a problem with the materials, it’s still the container manufacturer’s fault. That’s why re-inspection is required. Look how absurd these laws are. 2. The product test plate is shown in UG84(i). The only test item is the impact test.
As a supplementary note: The re-inspection of materials is stipulated by the purchaser in the contract or SPE; it depends on the contract or SPE signed by the customer. This is achieved by the purchaser specifying the type of certificate in the contract; the determination of the certificate type essentially sets the inspection requirements for the materials. They are what we commonly refer to as the 3.2 certificate and the 3.1 certificate.
