Our company uses an RTO combustion furnace to treat waste gases; a heat exchanger is installed at the exhaust outlet to recover heat, which is then used to heat water. The normal exhaust gas temperature is around 110°C, while it can reach around 300°C under special circumstances. The exhaust gases consist of fumes resulting from the combustion of organic solvents such as toluene, methanol, and propanol; however, they also contain some hydrogen chloride, and the pH level is around 2 after condensation occurs. I’m not sure whether my flue gas pipeline heat exchanger will corrode if TA2 material is used Is there any materials science expert who can provide an answer? Thank you so much! ! ! !
Is it present in 09CrCuSb material or not?

This post was last edited by sdwfsgyykai on 2018-11-1 17:07. Titanium reacts with HCl; hydrochloric acid at a concentration of over 7% at room temperature can cause a reaction. It’s best to test the material in person; if needed, I can send you a piece of TA2 material
Titanium ones probably won’t work; ordinary TA2 is not resistant to acids. If cost is not a concern, TA9 can be tried

I don’t think it will work. A temperature of 110 is already quite high for titanium. There’s also HCL; one can try using test pieces. It’s best to use two small pieces, bend them together and weld them, then leave them there for a week to see if there are any cracks on the surface.
