In emergency situations, there is the highly hazardous medium EO (ethylene oxide); should this medium be considered highly hazardous in the design phase?
The hazard level of the medium considered when classifying pressure vessels refers to situations in which, due to accidents during production, the medium comes into extensive contact with human bodies; since EO is present in emergency situations, it is recommended to design the vessels for use with extremely hazardous media
According to HG/T 20660-2017, ethylene oxide: explosive, extremely hazardous. The current version in use is 2000, but it’s certain that it will be updated to 2017 when the standards are revised next time; this is foreseeable.
It should be designed for extreme hazards
It’s hard to say; the regulations in 2017 were too strict for the container industry
Based on the content, trace amounts can be disregarded, while the rest should be treated as extremely high.
For pressure vessel media hazards, it only matters whether they are present or not. It doesn’t matter whether it’s bullish or not
The boiler inspection department in our company says that version 20660-2000 should be followed; I’m not sure if this is standard across the whole country
