Dear experts, I have a question. Can the welding procedure qualification for qualified fillet weld specimens be applied to or cover the welding positions of Class E joints in national standard pressure vessels? It should be possible in accordance with the requirements of NB/T47014-2011 6.3.1.2 & 6.3.2. But a local special inspection agency said it’s not possible; I don’t know how to argue against that. I hope someone experienced can provide some evidence and advice. :handshake

What are the reasons given by the inspector for why coverage isn’t possible? Could the original poster explain in more detail?
The inspection authority believes that it does not comply with the latter part of clause 6.1.5.5 of NB/T47014-2011, and has doubts regarding the classification of \"fillet welds on non-compressed weldments\". In my opinion, the gasket involved in this Type E connector constitutes a \"non-compressive weldment\", and the weld connecting it to the housing should fall under the category of \"non-compressive weldment fillet welds\", which are typical load-bearing welds, not welds designed to withstand compressive forces. Yes, it is necessary to distinguish between stress-bearing welds and compression-bearing welds
