As shown in the figure, should the nameplate indicate the total volume or the nominal volume? For example, in the case of a 5000L reactor (with a nominal volume), the actual total volume is 5500L. In my opinion, the nameplate should show the total volume, as the classification of the equipment is based on PV, where V represents the total volume.

The difference between the nominal volume and the total volume is not very large; usually, the total volume is indicated. Of course, it’s also fine to use the nominal volume as long as the deviation is not significant, provided that it’s not exactly at the threshold for category determination.
It seems not rigorous from a technical perspective; if there is no shift in gears and the volume value is listed as slightly lower rather than higher, the problem might not be serious

In other words, the geometric volume should be indicated on the label, rather than the nominal volume.
It is the volume indicated on the design drawings, though it may differ significantly from the actual value.
