Since I’m not majoring in mechanical engineering, I don’t have much understanding of this subject. To be able to comprehend the theoretical formulas in books, what kinds of books should I read?

Don’t just read books; get your hands dirty by building a simple device. Force yourself to go through the process, and you’ll understand much better. I originally studied thermal power engineering. It was my first time designing an atmospheric pressure vessel, and I knew nothing about it. I used a simple approach by creating a calculation table, listing all the parameters, indicating the source of each formula (chart), entering the values for each parameter one by one, and after performing the calculations, it became clear what was going on.
To put it frankly, what exactly do you do? Which area are you currently in charge of? Analyze each specific issue individually.

Hello, I’m currently working at a manufacturing plant, designing drawings for pressure vessels. I have trouble understanding the formulas in textbooks. The factory doesn’t pay much attention to these matters; it’s sufficient to produce drawings according to standards. However, I’d like to understand the formulas outlined in standards like ASME Section VIII Div. 1. Unfortunately, I’ve never studied them before, so I don’t know where to start
Purchase a copy of “Training Manual for Pressure Vessel Design Engineers”. This manual was written by the very people who develop the standards; it covers basically all relevant topics. You can use this as a starting point for your studies*. If there are any parts you don’t understand, you can then read related books for further clarification.
