In clause 6.1.2 of HG/T20583-2020, when an oblong or elliptical hole is made in the cylinder or cone and its minor axis is aligned with the radial direction of the cylinder or cone, the size of the hole is determined based on the minor axis of the oblong or elliptical shape. This calculation method differs from that in GB150; the calculated opening size is significantly smaller. Although the longitudinal stress on the cylinder or cone is clearly less than the circumferential stress, this does not conform to GB150. Can this regulation be used for calculations? Please discuss.

The design method adopted is GB/T150, and the calculation method for equal-area reinforcement is used; where specific requirements are stipulated, those shall be followed – for example, as per clause 6.3.3.1 of GB/T150.3-2011. If another method is chosen, such as the analytical method, it should be applied accordingly.
