Several of our crude oil storage tanks are approaching the 10-year mark for calibration, so calibration planning is needed; at the same time, these tanks are scheduled to undergo major cleaning and maintenance. Are there any relevant standards? Does the calibration of the tank capacity have to be done after a major repair? Thank you!
The calibration of the capacity of crude oil storage tanks should comply with local relevant metrological standards and petroleum industry specifications. Generally, tank capacity calibration is not necessarily required to be carried out after major repairs, but such repairs can cause changes in the tank’s geometry and volume, affecting the accuracy of the calibration. Therefore, if a major overhaul is planned, it is recommended to recalibrate the storage tank after the overhaul is completed to ensure the accuracy of the calibration results. At the same time, relevant regulations or industry standards should be reviewed to understand the specific timing and requirements for calibration. .
Since the scheduled inspection is approaching, it will be fine after the inspection; the filling factor shall be in accordance with the provisions of 3.1.13 in TSG21-2016. Not more than 0.95 times the designed filling volume.
