Wuhan No.1 Metallurgical Group and others have applied for a patent for an integrated heat treatment method for large buried storage tanks, aiming to solve the key technical problem of having to carry out heat treatment in segments or only in certain areas of such tanks due to their elongated shape. According to information from the Intellectual Property Office as of August 22, 2025, Wuhan No.1 Metallurgical Group Steel Structure Co., Ltd. and China No.1 Metallurgical Group Corporation have filed a patent application titled “An Integrated Heat Treatment Method for Large Buried Storage Tanks”, with the publication number CN120519673A; the application was submitted in July 2025. The patent abstract indicates that this application provides an overall heat treatment method for large-scale buried storage tanks, which includes: S1, placing the constructed tank on a heat treatment jig ; S2: Apply external insulation to the storage tank ; In S3, multiple sets of electric heater structures are sequentially inserted into the interior of the storage tank, and these sets are suspended at intervals on the suspension brackets provided inside the tank ; S4: Install cable conduit assemblies at the bottom of the interior cavity of the storage tank, and connect multiple sets of electric heating elements to these cable conduit assemblies respectively ; The cable gland assembly is made of high-temperature resistant mica wire and used to lead the cables outside the storage tank, where they are connected to the power regulation equipment ; In S5, short-circuit testing and heating calibration are performed on the storage tank in sequence; if no abnormalities are detected, the tank undergoes overall heat treatment. It achieves the overall heat treatment of buried tanks by suspending multiple sets of heat sources inside the tank, thereby solving the key technical problem of having to carry out heat treatment in segments or only in certain areas due to the elongated shape of such tanks, and improving the effectiveness of stress removal through heat treatment.
