Let’s give praise and encouragement to the achievements made in China’s chemical engineering technology and equipment; your participation in discussions is the greatest encouragement. **********************【Ten Years of Progress in Chemical Engineering Equipment】Regular updates and summaries are available; feel free to join the discussions: https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-3576046-1-1.html ***************** After securing the title for the widest and heaviest N06625 nickel-based alloy coils in the world in the second half of 2024, Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group from Shanxi has achieved another success – stable mass production of N10276 nickel-based alloy hot coils, with the maximum weight of each coil exceeding 14 tons. Wide-width cold-rolled coils of the same material were also produced successfully, once again establishing Shanxi as the world leader in the manufacturing of high-end nickel-based alloys, demonstrating its strong innovative capabilities in the field of special metal materials. Known as the \"king of nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys\", N10276 is a benchmark product among nickel-based alloys strengthened by solid solution. Its unique composition – containing 16% molybdenum and 4% tungsten with strictly controlled levels of carbon and silicon – endows it with exceptional corrosion resistance, making it an essential core material for equipment used in demanding environments such as the petrochemical and offshore engineering industries. However, this performance advantage also presents world-class manufacturing challenges: the very high alloy content makes it extremely difficult to control purity and prevent compositional segregation during the smelting process; moreover, the material experiences greater resistance to deformation during heat treatment. For a long time, a weight of 5 tons per coil has been an insurmountable \"ceiling\" for the global industry. Even though domestic companies have achieved technological breakthroughs, they have yet to overcome the weight constraint, which directly limits their widespread use in high-end equipment sectors. Taiyuan Iron and Steel’s breakthrough stems from a systematic innovation in end-to-end technologies. Leveraging its world-leading expertise in stainless steel manufacturing, as well as the advantages provided by advanced equipment at its various production facilities, Taiyuan Iron and Steel’s Technology Center focuses its efforts on key areas: it achieves high-purity control and breakthroughs in low-segregation techniques during the smelting stage, overcomes the challenges associated with forming large-weight billets during the billet preparation phase, and ultimately ensures stable production through specialized rolling techniques. As a result, it has managed to produce the widest-format N10276 nickel-based alloy coils in the world, with product performance metrics that meet international advanced standards. This breakthrough not only overcomes weight restrictions but also enables our country to reduce its reliance on imports in the field of such high-end materials, providing self-sufficient and controllable material solutions for the manufacturing of key equipment. From N06625 to N10276, Taiyuan Iron and Steel’s consecutive success in the field of nickel-based alloys is no accident. Previously, the hot-rolled coils of N06625 nickel-based alloy with a weight of over 14 tons developed by the company made Taiyuan Iron and Steel the only enterprise in China, and the third in the world, to possess the capability for mass production of this material across the entire production process. The mass production of N10276 further strengthens Taiyuan Iron and Steel’s leading position in the global high-end nickel-based alloy market. Looking to the future, Taiyuan Iron and Steel Technology Center will continue to delve deeply into the field of nickel-based alloy materials, focusing on the development of original and groundbreaking core technologies, while continuously expanding its product portfolio and application areas. By providing customized material solutions to industrial clients around the world, Taiyuan Iron and Steel is striving to build a world-class nickel-based alloy brand, driving the industry toward greater efficiency, higher quality, and lower costs, and contributing continuously with technological innovation to the development of Shanxi as a province with a strong advanced manufacturing sector.
