According to Sinochem News, on January 20th, in Nigeria and Vietnam, which are thousands of miles apart, two large-scale cryogenic storage tank projects led by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation’s 10th Fourth Construction Company (hereinafter referred to as 10th Fourth Construction) completed a key phase related to the pneumatic lifting of these large cryogenic storage tanks on the same day. This achievement demonstrates the high level of technical expertise and strong project management capabilities of China’s oil and chemical construction companies in the field of building advanced clean energy storage and transportation facilities, particularly in the area of cryogenic storage tanks. In Nigeria, the energy hub of the African continent, the dome lifting for the first 200,000 cubic meter storage tank (Tank No. 1) of Nigeria’s LNG project, which is under the general contract of 14th Construction Corporation, was successfully completed. For this project, the 14th China National Chemical Engineering Corporation’s advanced and self-developed intelligent lifting system, along with a digital AI-based control framework for the entire process, was utilized to achieve precise coordinated control of key systems such as those related to balance, sealing, power supply, and measurement. This enabled the massive dome, weighing thousands of tons, to be positioned smoothly and accurately to within millimeter accuracy. It is reported that this storage tank is the largest LNG storage tank under construction in Africa, and it is regarded as a key cornerstone for the transition to clean energy in West Africa. Once fully operational, it will provide crucial support for Nigeria’s energy strategy. On the same day, at the Long Son low-temperature ethane storage tank project site in Vietnam, the jacking operation of the second large-scale low-temperature storage tank, constructed by 14th Construction Corporation, was also successfully completed. Just over ten days after the lifting of the first storage tank was completed, the team efficiently and safely carried out similar critical tasks, demonstrating recognition for its project execution efficiency and ability to tackle challenges continuously. It is understood that this project is regarded by the local authorities as an important facility for storing and transporting petrochemical raw materials, and it plays a significant role in ensuring the stability of the industrial chain. The reporter learned that 14th Chemical Construction has been active in the field of low-temperature storage and transportation for many years. Thanks to its independently developed technology for constructing large-scale low-temperature tanks, it has achieved comprehensive coverage in the storage and transportation of various low-temperature media, from LNG to ethane, propane, butane, and more. The company’s achievements are evident both at home and abroad; it has built or is currently constructing large-scale cryogenic storage tanks with a total capacity of nearly 9 million cubic meters. There are over 30 such large-scale cryogenic storage tanks with a capacity of 160,000 cubic meters or more, which have been completed or are under construction. Its projects are located in dozens of key energy hubs across China, including Shanghai, Yancheng, Chaozhou, Guangzhou, etc., enabling the company to enjoy a distinct technical brand advantage as well as strong capabilities in full-process construction management.
