The incoming medium is water; the inlet temperature is 20 degrees, and the flow rate is 360 liters per hour. The inner diameter of the iron pipe is 30 mm. The desired outlet temperature is 120 degrees. What is the required heat exchange area? I want to calculate how much power is needed to achieve an outlet temperature of 120 degrees. I have no experience in this area – what formulas are needed, and which books can help me solve this problem? Please advise, thank you! ! ! )

To understand the basic concepts, please refer to the following formulas: Q = U * A * (LMTD) = M * CP * ΔT. Here, Q represents heat, U is the thermal conductivity, A is the area, LMTD is the logarithmic mean temperature, M is the mass, CP is the specific heat, and ΔT is the temperature difference. With these formulas, it’s possible to calculate the basic area. Of course, it’s not that simple in actual design work; but having these concepts helps you to conduct basic verifications when preparing purchase requests or using data provided by manufacturers
