The inlet and outlet ports for the cold and hot fluids in the plate-type oil cooler are reversed; that is, the cooling water inlet is connected to the cooling water outlet, and the oil inlet is connected to the oil outlet. Can the oil cooler work?
It can work, but the performance will be a bit worse.
Does it mean that if the entire plate heat exchanger operates in reverse flow, it will still work?
There’s no problem with that; the heat exchange is the same. It’s just a matter of determining whether to consider the issue of fluid accumulation.
