I’m seeking advice: does the term \"shell material of a tube heat exchanger\" refer to the material of the heat exchanger’s cylinder section? If the tube side material in the process package is CS and the shell side material is 304, then what should be the material of the tube bundle: 304 or CS?
The shell-side material refers to the material of the shell, while the tube-side material refers to the material of the tube bundle.
The tube side includes everything that is in contact with the tubes, such as the tube boxes and similar components; all of these are made of 304 material. The shell side, on the other hand, is made of carbon steel. You’ll need to discuss the details with the client
In heat exchangers, the material used for the tube side must not be inferior to that used for the shell side; therefore, the situation you described, where the tube side material is CS while the shell side material is 304, does not exist. It would be more appropriate if the materials were reversed
The tube sheet material is CS, and the tube bundle is also CS.
The tube bundle should be made of 304 material. Since the fluid flowing in the shell side is certainly corrosive, it will also cause corrosion to the heat exchange tubes. The tube side uses circulating cooling water, so the tube side can be CS.
