Good evening, everyone on this forum. I’ve been working in mechanical design all these years. Recently, there was a need for a jacketed heat exchange vessel. The inner diameter of the main tank is DN3000 mm; according to relevant standards, the inner diameter of the jacket should be DN3200 mm. The wall thickness of the main tank is 6 mm, made of 316 material, while the wall thickness of the jacket is 6 mm, made of 304 material. It is required that ethylene glycol be used as a coolant in the jacket to cool the main tank, with a minimum temperature of -50°C. The height of the main tank is approximately 3.3 meters, and the gap between the main pipe and the jacket is 94 mm. At present, it is not clear how to arrange the guide plates between the jacket (including the end caps) For example, when designing several coolant channels, how should the flow rate and velocity for each channel be determined? I would also appreciate some advice from those who are more experienced in this area; I thank everyone in advance.
Spiral turbulence plates can be arranged on the cylinder wall. The gap between the spiral baffle and the jacket is maintained at 3~5 mm.
I also reviewed relevant documents such as GB150; now I can determine the thickness and width of the guide plates. However, I still haven’t figured out how many turns should be placed on a cylinder of a certain spiral angle
