The steam pressure is very high, with a temperature of over 190 degrees. Discharging it using a steam trap would result in significant waste; energy savings are definitely possible. How many layers does your heat exchanger have? It is possible to use steam at different pressures at various levels to save energy, which can result in significant cost savings over the course of a year. It also depends on how much steam is used by your heat exchanger.
