Process evaluation for heat exchange tubes and tube sheets: what are the dimensions of the tube sheets and how are they manufactured? Appendix D to 47014 states that the K value and fracture criteria should follow those specified in 151; it’s not clear which ones exactly.
For the process evaluation of heat exchange tubes and tube sheets, an assessment must be carried out based on specific circumstances. Generally, factors such as the material, structure, and operating conditions of the pipe fittings need to be considered, followed by the selection of appropriate processing techniques and parameters. The dimensions of the tube sheet are usually determined based on specific design requirements. When machining tube sheets, corresponding processing equipment and tools are required, such as CNC machines, milling machines, drilling machines, etc. The specific processing procedure can be carried out according to the requirements of the drawings, or adjusted based on experience. As for the K value and crack width, they need to be determined in accordance with specific specifications and standards. If the evaluation is carried out in accordance with the provisions in 151, then the relevant K values and crack sizes should be calculated based on that standard. It should be noted that when conducting process evaluation, other factors such as safety and reliability also need to be considered. .
For a triangular arrangement, K = center-to-center distance; for a square arrangement, K = sqrt(2) × center-to-center distance

The design of tubular heat exchangers is based on empirical values, and the same holds true for tube sheets. If you need it, I can provide you with a few diagrams for free to take a look at. As for true standards, there are slight differences, and these are determined by factors such as size, as well as whether to use falling film or MVR technology. The K value is specified in Table 6-2 of GB/T151-2014 P17; once the K value is known, the size of the tube sheet can be calculated. The groove shall comply with 151 P27 6.6.2 and P28 6.6.3.
