With plasma cutting, the nozzles keep getting damaged. What’s the reason? After playing 24 holes, several burners were damaged – steel plates with a thickness of 10–15 mm
The reasons for burning out the cutting nozzle may include the following: 1. Non-standard process parameters: During plasma cutting, inappropriate process parameters are used, such as too high a gas flow rate or too low a current, which leads to an excessively high temperature of the nozzle and thus its burnout. 2. Oxide clogging: During plasma cutting, if there are impurities such as oxides or oil on the surface of the material, these can block the holes in the nozzles, causing obstruction of the gas flow and overheating of the nozzles, which may lead to their destruction. 3. Severe wear of the cutting tip: Under normal circumstances, the cutting tip wears out due to long-term use. If the worn nozzles are not replaced in time, it will lead to an increase in the nozzle diameter, unstable gas flow, overheating of the nozzles, and ultimately their destruction. To solve this problem, you can take the following measures: 1. Ensure that the correct process parameters are used, making adjustments based on material properties such as the thickness of the steel plate. 2. Before plasma cutting, thoroughly clean the surface of the material to prevent impurities such as oxides and oils from clogging the cutting nozzle. 3. Regularly check the wear of the cutting nozzles, and replace those that are severely worn in a timely manner. 4. Pay attention to the operating techniques, maintain an appropriate distance between the cutting tip and the material surface, and avoid overheating the cutting tip. By taking these measures, the probability of the cutting nozzle being burned out during plasma cutting can be reduced. .
The flow rate of the protective gas must be properly controlled; too high or too low a flow rate can damage the nozzle. Additionally, the distance between the nozzle and the workpiece needs to be appropriate
The air pressure reducing valve is adjusted to the appropriate pressure; this is mainly caused by unstable air pressure
