Leaks have occurred at the flanges and pipe welds of the welded pipeline. The medium flowing in the pipeline is a carbon disulfide-sulfur solution; the pipe material is 304, and TIG welding was used for construction. It is a GC1-1 grade pipeline, with a 100% inspection rate, and the constructor’s inspections showed no issues – so why did the leaks occur?

It is normal for welds on pipelines exposed to corrosive media to leak over time； Of course, it’s also likely that factors such as the temperature difference between day and night in the local area, favorable climate conditions, prestress in the pipelines, and vibrations inside the pipelines can all cause leaks at the welding points ；

Hehe, this is indeed the most reliable way to check for leaks using foam. The inspection method used is solely for detecting internal defects at the weld seam; all these inspections are carried out to ensure that the material is qualified after being put into use. So I still believe that foam leak testing is more reliable.

Do you mean the foam leak testing as a vacuum chamber test? Vacuum box leak testing is one of the methods used to check the airtightness of equipment. Water pressure testing and air pressure testing are also methods employed for this purpose, and flaw detection constitutes a form of non-destructive testing. All of these have been done. Let’s analyze it from the perspective of corrosion instead.
