Guys, could you please share some photos of the sacrificial anode blocks used on the walls of large storage tanks? I’d be very grateful!
Are large storage tanks also protected using cathodic protection?
Cathodic protection for large storage tanks is conditional; generally, only the parts in contact with water can be protected by cathodic protection. Such as the bottom plates of crude oil and residue tanks, as well as wastewater tanks. There are design standards available for reference for these types.
There are standards for cathodic protection of crude oil storage tanks; it applies to the tank bottom and the area up to 2 meters high on the tank walls, and aluminum-zinc-indium anode blocks are required in such cases. I’m dealing with a storage tank that holds 2000 cubic meters of concentrated sulfuric acid, and I need to know what kind of anode blocks should be used. However, the design requirements specify the use of such anodes, and I haven’t been able to find any relevant references. Thanks for the advice.

What kind of products are usually stored in such large storage tanks? Is it crude oil or something like that?
