If the entire outer surface of the storage tank is under cathodic protection, is it then unnecessary to apply anti-corrosion paint to that outer surface? Will there be any effects if it’s applied? 2. If the storage tank is only cathodically protected on the lower surface of its bottom plate, does that mean the lower surface of the bottom plate does not need to be coated with anti-corrosion paint? Or does the entire outer surface of the tank not need to be coated with anti-corrosion paint? (Because both the bottom plate and the entire tank are made of a single piece of metal that conducts electricity, with the bottom plate connected to the tank.)
If the outer surface of the storage tank is cathodically protected, it is theoretically possible to reduce or eliminate the need for anti-corrosion paint. However, in practical applications, anti-corrosion paint and cathodic protection are often used together to achieve the best anti-corrosion results.
