Public information does not currently specify the official limitations of the rotary airflow method (cyclone technology) in the repair of buried pipelines without excavation. Based on an analysis of the technical characteristics and industry practices, the main potential limitations are as follows: The range of pipe diameters that can be handled is limited; this technology is currently suitable for pipes with diameters ranging from DN13mm to DN500mm. There is no suitable process available for large-diameter buried pipes (over 1000mm), making it impossible to carry out repairs on such pipes. It has high requirements for the conditions of the gas source used in construction. The technical core relies on a stable cyclone airflow with controllable pressure differences, and it requires specialized systems for generating the gas source and controlling the rotational airflow; thus, the equipment requirements are higher than those of traditional repair techniques. Lack of mature and unified industry standards: As a patent-based trenchless repair technology, the current industry standards for construction acceptance and contract specifications are still imperfect; the quality of construction relies mainly on the technical experience of the construction team. It places high demands on the original pipeline structure. This technology is mainly used to address issues such as rust, scaling, and leaks; however, if the existing buried pipeline has suffered severe structural deformation, fracture, or collapse, it cannot be repaired using this technique, and the pipe section still needs to be excavated and replaced.
