I. Applications of protection in the nuclear island building area: Coating protection inside the safety shell: Modified silicone and highly cross-linked epoxy organic coatings are used inside the safety shells of domestic nuclear power plants; these coatings can withstand gamma radiation doses of ≥1.6×10⁵ Gy, and they also possess excellent decontamination properties, preventing the accumulation of radioactive contaminants. Application of coatings in nuclear auxiliary buildings: On the surfaces of equipment inside the nuclear building outside the containment, radiation-resistant epoxy organic coatings are used; these coatings enable long-term protection against radioactive contamination under normal operating conditions, and surface contaminants can be removed quickly through regular wiping. II. Applications of protection for key nuclear power components: Protection of the reactor lower flange: A domestic nuclear power plant uses Carboline 4674, a one-component modified silicone organic coating, for the reactor lower flange; this coating can withstand temperatures up to 399°C and is suitable for complex operating conditions involving alternating dry and wet environments as well as the presence of boric acid. Protection of the inner walls of nuclear power pipes: A specialized organic protective coating developed by Lanzhou University of Technology has been tested in practice on the inner walls of important system pipes in a nuclear power plant in China, demonstrating excellent corrosion resistance under simulated operating conditions. III. Application in the conventional island and auxiliary facilities: Protection of equipment in the conventional island: Organic coatings such as epoxy zinc-rich coatings and epoxy ferrochrome coatings are used on the steel structures and equipment surfaces within the non-nuclear island buildings, enabling long-term corrosion resistance in a non-radioactive atmospheric environment; at the same time, these coatings avoid the corrosion risks associated with ordinary zinc-based coatings in environments above 60°C. Protection for use in special environments: In corrosive areas such as seawater pump stations and chlorine production plants, polyurethane organic coatings that are resistant to salt spray and acids and alkalis are used to withstand the long-term erosion caused by high humidity and high salt spray levels, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the facilities.
