Single commissioning of the three units in the synthesis unit area of Xing’an Chemical’s 30/52 fertilizer project completed. Author/Source: Date: 2018-06-13 Clicks: 128 Recently, following steam purging, the units in the ammonia synthesis unit area of the 30/52 fertilizer project began intensive individual testing of the ammonia compressor, syngas compressor, and CO2 compressor. The three units – the ammonia compressor, the syngas compressor, and the CO2 compressor – constitute the core of the synthesis unit area and are also very important operating equipment in the 30/52 fertilizer main plant. Due to the numerous uncertainties associated with equipment operation, the commissioning team for the 30/52 fertilizer project made thorough preparations prior to the individual unit tests, developed a detailed and reasonable commissioning plan, implemented strict quality controls at each stage, and carried out coordinated arrangements. All positions within the synthesis unit actively cooperated in the commissioning process, kept a close eye on the progress and quality of on-site construction, made full use of time to organize practical training as well as theoretical knowledge sessions, and invited personnel from the manufacturer to conduct simulation operations in order to further improve job-related skills. On May 17, the first step was to conduct a single-test operation of the ammonia compressor’s turbine. Steam was used to warm the pipes at 9:10; after going through stages such as turbine startup and reaching the critical value, the tests for electronic overspeed and mechanical overspeed were successful at 16:20, and the single test was completed successfully. On May 26, the single-test operation of the syngas compressor’s turbine was commenced. Steam warming of the pipes started at 14:00; the turbine was started up at 17:47. It successfully passed the critical value at 18:30, and the electronic overspeed test was successful at 19:42, thus completing the single-test phase for the syngas compressor. On June 6, following the successful commissioning of the ammonia compressor and the syngas compressor earlier on, the single-unit test of the CO2 compressor was carried out. Starting at 9:50 with steam warming up the system, and ending at 15:02 when the electronic overspeed test was successful, the entire commissioning process was completed smoothly, and the single-unit test of the CO2 compressor was successfully finished. In accordance with the overall trial operation plan, the synthesis unit area will next carry out air-linked trials of the CO2 compressor and ammonia compressor, as well as various tasks such as catalyst filling and unit airtightness testing.
