Fertilizer exports maintained steady growth in the first 8 months Author/Source: China Chemical Industry News Date: 10-12-2019 Clicks: 7 **The latest statistics released by the customs show that in August, China exported 2.43 million tons of fertilizers, a 14.1% increase on a year-on-year basis, but a 13.8% decrease on a month-on-month basis. From January to August, China exported a total of 17.39 million tons of fertilizers, a 26.2% increase on a year-on-year basis; the total export value reached 4.85 billion US dollars, representing a 25% increase compared to the previous year. Specifically, thanks to the bidding process for urea in India, China’s urea exports surged in August, with 658,000 tons exported, representing a year-on-year increase of 424.8%. From January to August, the total export volume was 2.549 million tons, an increase of 254.9% on a year-on-year basis. Urea exports in the first 8 months have already exceeded those of the entire previous year. Thanks to the zero-tariff export policy, exports of potash fertilizers and NPK compound fertilizers have continued to experience strong growth. In August, China exported 25,000 tons of potassium sulfate, a year-on-year increase of 2,336.6%; from January to August, the total export volume was 255,000 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 94 times. In August, China exported 14,000 tons of potassium chloride, a year-on-year increase of 614.4%; from January to August, the total export volume was 141,000 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 166.6%. In August, China exported 99,000 tons of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizers, a year-on-year increase of 109%; from January to August, the total export volume was 573,000 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 159.5%. However, the export situation for monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, sulfuric acid an, etc. is poor. In August, China exported 190,000 tons of monoammonium phosphate, a decrease of 34.2% on a year-on-year basis; 498,000 tons of diammonium phosphate, a decrease of 27.7%; 560,000 tons of sulfuric acid, a decrease of 13.2%; and 102,000 tons of ammonium chloride for use in fertilizers, a decrease of 35%. On the import side, China imported 650,000 tons of chemical fertilizers in August, a 14% increase year-on-year. From January to August, a total of 8.19 million tons of chemical fertilizers were imported, representing a year-on-year increase of 23.4%; the total import value amounted to 2.59 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year increase of 41.2%.
