On October 28, urea price trends across China. Author/Source: Yuege Agricultural Supplies Network. Date: October 28, 2019. Page views: 7. The domestic urea market continued to perform weakly, with sluggish trading activity. Most urea producers are fulfilling previously placed orders, while the consolidation of local supplies for shipment to ports is underway. Currently, environmental inspections have been concluded in some regions, and downstream panel manufacturers plan to resume operations. Transactions at lower price levels in the market have shown slight improvement. However, urea producers still face high inventory levels, and the pressure to sell remains. In the short term, the domestic urea market is expected to remain weak. In Shandong and Shanxi, there were slight adjustments of 10-20 yuan/ton in some areas. In China, environmental protection warnings in Shandong and Hebei provinces have been lifted. Downstream plywood mills that had suspended operations now show intentions to resume production. Market demand for urea has seen a slight increase; however, compound fertilizer plants continue to purchase urea as needed, while plywood mills are still operating at low capacity levels. Industrial demand remains average, and agricultural demand is limited to sporadic purchases. Overall, urea demand remains weak. Negative factors dominate the fundamental outlook for the domestic market. It is expected that urea prices in China will continue to trend downward in the near term. In the short term, attention should be paid to the resumption of operations at downstream plywood mills in Shandong Province. In the longer term, one should monitor how policies related to environmental protection and natural gas restrictions will affect plant operations.
