Recently, the Fuyang Municipal Government website published a pre-approval notice for the \"Environmental Impact Assessment Report on the Energy Efficiency Upgrade Project for the Urea Production Facility of Anhui Jinmei Zhongneng Chemical Co., Ltd.\" Anhui Jinmei Zhongneng Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to construct a urea production facility with an annual capacity of 493,000 tons within the already acquired land of its existing plant, using the \"high-efficiency synthesis, low-energy consumption\" CO2 stripping process for urea production developed by China Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd. (referred to as \"Wuhuan Company\"). The existing 283,000 tons per year urea production plant using the aqueous solution full-circulation process and the 210,000 tons per year urea production plant using the conventional CO2 stripping process will be phased out. According to the published environmental impact assessment report, Anhui Jinmei Zhongneng currently has 3 urea production units. Unit 1 is a urea plant using an aqueous solution full-circulation process with an annual production capacity of 283,000 tons; Unit 2 is a urea plant using the traditional CO2 stripping process with an annual production capacity of 210,000 tons; Unit 3 is a urea plant using the CO2 stripping process with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons. Wuhuan Company’s efficient and low-energy-consuming urea synthesis process consists of CO2 compression, desulfurization and dehydrogenation, high-pressure urea synthesis, medium-pressure decomposition and recovery, low-pressure decomposition and recovery, evaporation of the urea solution, hydrolysis and desorption of the process condensate, and urea granulation. In 2009, Wuhuan Company successfully developed the \"high-efficiency synthesis, low-energy consumption urea production technology.\" According to Wuhuan Company, as of November 2023, the \"high-efficiency synthesis, low-energy consumption urea production technology\" has been successfully applied in 17 large and medium-sized projects.
