Construction of the Daxian phosphate ammonium project. The full name is the Construction Project of a 30,000-ton Ammonium Phosphate Production Facility; it is commonly referred to as the Ammonium Phosphate Project. It was built on the site of the former Daxian General Chemical Plant. With a total investment of 80.472 million yuan, the facility has an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of phosphatic ammonia, 40,000 tons of sulfuric acid, and 1,500 kilowatt-hours of power generated from waste heat. It was part of the State Council’s special funding program worth 4.5 billion yuan aimed at upgrading fertilizer production in 1989; the project was tendered by the **Raw Materials Investment Company, which won the bid, and its construction was approved by the Provincial Planning and Economic Commission. It was designed by the Provincial Chemical Engineering Design Institute, with the Provincial Environmental Science and Technology Service Department conducting the environmental impact assessment. The production area covers an area of 136,200 square meters. At the beginning of 1993, the three units were put into operation for joint testing. Pilot production started in July 1993, and the project was completed and accepted in 1996. In May 1996, the Phosphorus Ammonium Plant was established as a separate entity from the State-owned Daxian Chemical Complex. In October 1997, it was restructured into Sichuan Daxian Hongwang Phosphating Co., Ltd., and in November 2004, it declared bankruptcy and ceased operations. In 2005, it was purchased by Sichuan Yunda Chemical Co., Ltd. for 24 million yuan, and was registered as the Dazhou branch of Sichuan Yunda Chemical Co., Ltd.
