Everyone! Who has used online heat exchanger cleaning devices, such as gel ball cleaning systems or ultrasonic cleaning? In our facility, the tube bundles of the water coolers at the outlet of the ammonia synthesis tower are often covered with soft deposits, which reduces the efficiency of heat exchange. Roughly every 3 months, we carry out backwashing of the heat exchangers during the process of reversing the direction of gas flow; this results in a decrease in the temperature of the process gas by nearly 8°C. What is flushed out are mainly soft deposits in the form of sludge, and this allows us to reduce steam consumption by 3 tons per hour. Does anyone else have similar problems or know of such devices? Please share your experiences!

In this case, it is best to clean it offline and find a solution related to the circulating water.
There is ball cleaning, but for ultrasonic cleaning, I’ve only heard of it; I’ve never seen it in action.
