The annual production capacity of 1.35 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 2.4 million tons of urea at the Ulan Tai’an Energy and Chemical Industry Company in Xingan League has been successfully brought online. Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum Date: 2021-01-04 Clicks: 14 At 2:20 a.m. on December 2, 2020, the company managed to produce the first batch of urea products as part of the trial production phase, and these products passed quality inspection. It marks the official production of the “Wulan” brand urea products. The No. 1 urea production line of the 1.35 million tons per year synthetic ammonia/2.4 million tons per year urea production project operated by Ulan Tai’an Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. in Xingan League was put into operation for trial production on November 30, 2020, after the necessary preparations were completed. On December 1 at 18:00, the feeding of over 300 tons of raw materials in the first batch was completed. At 2:20 a.m. on December 2, 2020, the first batch of qualified “Wulan”-brand urea products was produced, three days earlier than the originally scheduled date for the initial production. Xingan League Wulantai’an Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ordos Wulan Coal (Group) Co., Ltd. It has constructed a project for the production of 1.35 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 2.4 million tons of urea in the Xingan League Economic and Technological Development Zone; the main product is urea, while the intermediate product is liquid ammonia, and the by-product is sulfur. The first phase has an annual production capacity of 700,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.2 million tons of urea. The Ulan Tai’an Large-scale Fertilizer Project in Inner Mongolia uses lignite as raw material and incorporates the most advanced and mature process technologies in China’s coal chemical industry. The gasification unit employs the Tsinghua slurry water-cooled wall gasification process; the shift reaction is carried out using a two-stage sulfur-resistant shift system. The purification units utilize low-temperature methanol washing and liquid nitrogen washing. The ammonia synthesis unit adopts the Topsoe S-300 synthesis process from Denmark to produce ammonia at 15.0 MPa, while urea is produced using the Snam ammonia stripping process from Italy. The air separation process makes use of a dual-pump internal compression low-temperature cryogenic method.
