On July 6, Zhongan United’s polyethylene production facility carried out the first trial production of the new product M2320; all quality parameters met the required standards, marking a successful development of this new polyethylene product. This M2320 was developed and produced for the first time in Sinopec’s gas-phase polyethylene plant. It features a wide range of polymerization parameters, making its production highly challenging. To ensure the success of the first transition to production and minimize the amount of transitional materials used, Zhongan United developed a detailed trial production plan. Based on the relevant performance criteria of the products, three product grades were designated for the transition period, which helped to reduce the amount of transitional materials needed by approximately 300 tons. M2320 is a high-melting-point injection-grade linear polyethylene product that boasts excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking, as well as good impact strength and tear resistance. It is widely used in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and in everyday household items. The annual demand for this product in the Anhui market is 20,000–30,000 tons. It can be used to produce cable insulation materials and masterbatch modified materials. Currently, there is a significant price difference between similar products on the market and conventional materials, resulting in substantial economic benefits. Adhering to a product strategy focused on high-end and differentiated offerings, Zhongan United actively seeks to develop new polyethylene products with strong production profitability, explores new areas for these products’ application, and avoids the price-driven competition in the general-purpose film market. Since the beginning of this year, Zhongan United has strengthened technical exchanges with entities such as Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Technology, its Catalysts Branch, and its Huadong Marketing Branch, deepened the integration of production, sales, research, and application, and made active efforts to develop new products. In the first half of the year, polyethylene production facilities achieved a cumulative output of 181,000 tons, exceeding the plan by 2.5 percentage points. The proportion of materials intended for new products exceeded 30%, an increase of 18 percentage points compared to last year, which provided a solid foundation for Zhongan United to achieve further success in its efforts to improve performance.
