Upgrading of the material used in key heat exchanger equipment at Enehua’s Synthesis Center / Author/Source: Enehua / Date: 2022-01-13 / Clicks: 18 During prolonged operation, poor heat transfer performance in some of the circulating water heat exchangers at Enehua’s Synthesis Center affected high-load production. Leaks in the heat exchange tubes of certain heat exchangers further disrupted the circulation process, leading to changes in water quality parameters and having a direct impact on the overall quality of the circulating water. To address the issues encountered with the circulating water heat exchangers, the synthesis plant upgraded the heat exchange tubes of heat exchanger 124-C from carbon steel to duplex steel, and its performance has been good since it was put into use. Next, the heat exchange tube material of the inter-stage cooler 2116-C in the compression unit and the heat exchanger at the ammonia compressor outlet 127-C will be upgraded to duplex steel. The inter-stage heat exchanger E12 in the LNG plant’s refrigerant compressor unit will be upgraded to duplex steel, while E13/14 will be upgraded to 316 stainless steel. All equipment with upgraded materials has been designed, and the procurement process has been completed; it is now in the equipment manufacturing phase. The synthesis center will continue to maintain active communication with design institutes and equipment manufacturers to ensure that all heat exchangers arrive at the site on time during the major maintenance in May.
