Author/Source: Shaanxi Chemical Coal Chemical Industry. Date: 2023-02-15. Clicks: 38. After going through half a century of changes, Shaanxi Chemical Company finally managed to make a breakthrough at the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Yet it did not stop striving; instead, it continued to pursue change, moving forward with the trends, breaking away from traditional management models, and combining industrial digitization with the development of digital technologies to drive industrial upgrading and foster high-quality development. The development of industrial platforms makes comprehensive enterprise management a reality, no longer just a dream. After two years of on-site case studies and research, as well as numerous technical exchange sessions for knowledge sharing, the smart factory development plan for Shanxi Chemical Company was ultimately formulated. The first step is to establish an industrial platform that forms the digital foundation. This platform is built on the collection, aggregation, and analysis of data from production systems as well as on-site video footage, and it represents one of the key elements ensuring the digitalization of industries. At present, the platform has achieved 100% aggregation of production data and is currently in the data cultivation phase. The development and application of adaptable APP modules in the future will be key to realizing the platform’s value, and the platform’s advantage of having a large volume of rich industrial data will become more evident. The platform that has been developed to date possesses capabilities for big data cleaning, storage, management, and analysis, providing a foundational foundation for the development of various industrial application apps. The development of this platform helps to eliminate information silos among various departments within the company, promotes the interconnection of information within the company, and enables the sharing of resources such as information, services, and technology. One of the platform’s most essential features is the creation of the \"Shaanxi Chemical Core Dashboard,\" which provides the company’s decision-makers with accurate, transparent, and clear information to support their decisions. This enhances decision-making efficiency and allows for more precise remote decisions; in other words, it enables one to \"rule the world from within this dashboard.\" The integrated development of internal and external networks ensures the security of information systems. The transmission of information relies on networks, and network security is one of the key elements that guarantee the proper functioning of information transmission systems. Along with the nationwide drive to enhance information security*, Shaanxi Coal Group has also carried out various types of \"cybersecurity emergency drills\" aimed at raising the cybersecurity awareness of all its employees. As the number of business operations within the company increases, various systems that rely on Web services, while providing convenience, also pose significant security risks. As more new business systems are put into use, it is necessary to continuously improve office efficiency and effectiveness through information technology initiatives. However, if the information security measures within the group do not keep up, cyberattacks and leaks of sensitive internal information become significant risks; therefore, it is essential to develop an internal network infrastructure. To ensure communication with the outside world, some external networks must also be retained; therefore, it becomes necessary to integrate internal and external networks in order to safeguard the security of information systems. The principle guiding the construction of the internal and external networks at Shaanxi Chemical Company is to adopt a hierarchical approach, dividing the network into a core layer, a aggregation layer, and an access layer. This ensures high reliability, performance, security, and flexible scalability for the entire network, facilitating product upgrades, replacements, and the addition of new functions. Based on the role and importance of various components within non-classified network information systems, the network architecture is divided into nine areas on a \"graded and zoned\" basis, including the database area, application server area, operation and maintenance management area, etc. When building networks, the internal and external networks may seem to target different audiences and perform different tasks, but in reality they complement each other greatly in terms of the scope of effective dissemination, focus areas, and influence, achieving a 1+1>2 effect through organic integration. The implementation of a highly adaptable ERP system boosts the company’s operational efficiency**. ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning system, and its development can only take place after all aspects of the company’s management have reached a stable state. After achieving the required level of maturity in various management aspects, Shaanxi Chemical Corporation initiated the development of this system in 2022, thereby effectively avoiding the risk of numerous modifications being necessary after its implementation due to issues such as inaccurate data collection, poor suitability of business and operational models, and insufficient maturity in corporate management. At the beginning of the project, the company’s Technology Development Department spent two months conducting visits and research to understand the desired operational models as well as the management concepts that needed to be improved or introduced in various production facilities, business units, and management departments. The department held frequent discussions with the company’s finance team, and through thorough communication, an outline for the process design was developed. In this design, some of the existing accounting processes were optimized, and management procedures were refined, so that the ERP system incorporated both the characteristics specific to Shanxi Chemical Industry and other advanced management concepts, resulting in an ERP management system with high adaptability. Through the development of this system, it is possible to assist enterprises in achieving cost control from various aspects, including the production planning stage, raw material procurement, inventory management, personnel management, the production process, and the sales phase. This helps to improve economic efficiency and lays the foundation for the long-term and efficient development of the enterprise. The implementation of the ERP system has improved the transparency, efficiency, consistency, and timeliness of the company’s management processes in areas such as procurement, production, sales, and finance. It has made management more real-time and dynamic, thereby helping to reduce various risks effectively. Standardizing material codes makes inventory management more efficient and convenient. Data standards represent a unified language for data when it is referenced; without such standardization, it is not possible to provide the necessary data support for business operations and management functions. When carrying out data standardization, the biggest challenge is the standardization of material codes; this process is also known as data cleaning. The materials used by enterprises vary and are numerous in type; after a difficult 4-month process, significant results were achieved. After the cleaning of material codes, all relevant data becomes clearer in subsequent material management processes. By integrating this with ERP-based material management, the challenges associated with inventory management are overcome, thereby contributing to the stable and high-quality development of the enterprise. The development and application of OTS systems have brought about a qualitative improvement and transformation in traditional training methods. Before November 2022, our training approach for chemical plant operators was still based on theoretical exercises; as a result, deficiencies in capabilities arose during unexpected production situations and emergency scenarios. Realizing that a change in this situation was necessary, the company understood that an effective training approach was essential. Therefore, it decided to develop and utilize OTS (Simulation Training System) in order to innovate training methods and overcome the challenge of making training content truly memorable for trainees. This OTS simulation training system was custom-developed specifically for the needs of the company. It is based on the DCS systems used in the company’s power, gasification, and purification units, and includes accident scenarios from actual production processes. It is suitable not only for training new employees but also for regular training sessions. OTS turns training into something dynamic rather than static; it is a \"living\" entity. Technicians can insert training content or frequently occurring faults during a certain period into the corresponding operating system as needed, allowing operators to perform DCS operations. This approach enables the development of comprehensive operational skills, allowing operators to master the use of control systems such as DCS and SIS, become familiar with methods of regulation and control, and gain a thorough understanding of the principles behind process operations as well as their dynamic characteristics. It improves the quality of operators, helps to reduce or prevent accidents and losses caused by human error, ensures the safe and smooth start-up and shutdown of facilities, and makes each training session feel like an immersive experience. At the same time, with the help of this system, operators can also conduct dynamic drills for accident response procedures, thereby establishing effective measures for dealing with accidents. This approach not only enhances the operators’ training experience but also improves the relevant preventive and response measures. Another important use of OTS is that it enhances the breadth of personnel training, providing additional impetus for the development of \"multi-skilled workers\". Inspectors can also participate in this training; many abnormal situations and unexpected accidents that are difficult to encounter in reality can be simulated in the OTS system, allowing for analysis and review. In this way, inspectors can integrate their knowledge of control systems with that gained on-site. This platform is a highly integrated one that eliminates the need for back-to-back training sessions. In the future, Shaanxi Chemical will also leverage industrial platforms, focusing on its core business operations, and make use of big data and mobile internet technologies to turn data resources into a tool for business decision-making, an aid for sales staff in exploring new markets, and a support for employee performance management, thereby helping Shaanxi Chemical to become a benchmark in the industry and one of the best companies in China!
