On July 1, 2024, the final large-scale equipment in the energy-saving technical renovation project for the adjustment of the synthetic ammonia production route at Anhui Jinmei Zhongneng Chemical Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year – namely the high-pressure CO2 buffer tank (V-1901B) – was successfully lifted in one go by Shaanxi Huajian No.1 Company. Thus, the 8 large-scale equipment units for this project have been successively lifted into place, marking the official start of the intensive equipment installation phase. The CO2 buffer tank has a diameter of 2.8 meters, a height of 25.02 meters, and a weight of 154.95 tons. Installed on the outside of the gasification frame, inside the utility conduit rack. This project is a follow-up construction phase of the second stage; the total planned investment is 1.18 billion yuan, aimed at building a synthetic ammonia production facility with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, with a construction period of 18 months. Huajian No.1 Company is responsible for the gasification and slag-water units of this project, as well as certain utility systems, large-scale lifting and installation work, and the installation of associated electrical and instrumentation equipment. According to a report on investments in Fuyang, the reform of the raw material route for ammonia synthesis at Anhui Jinmei Zhongneng utilizes pressurized coal gasification technology based on spacecraft furnaces; oxygen and nitrogen are produced using deep cooling methods, sulfur-tolerant isothermal shift reaction is employed for conversion, low-temperature methanol washing is used for desulfurization and decarburization, and liquid nitrogen washing is applied for gas purification. The energy-saving technical transformation project for adjusting the raw material route of synthetic ammonia production at Anhui Jinmei Zhongneng Chemical Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year, is being carried out in two phases. The initial production capacity is 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, with the environmental protection compliance inspection completed in December 2020. For the second phase of the expansion project, an investment of 1.18 billion yuan is planned to build a synthetic ammonia production facility with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, with a construction period of 18 months. Construction began in July 2023.
