Depending on the process used, the methane content control indicators are also different. We use Ende furnace, and methane is generally 15-17%. High methane content is equivalent to increasing the inert gas in the synthesis gas, which will reduce ammonia production. Therefore, try to control it at the lowest limit, which will help increase ammonia production.
If methane is high, venting will definitely affect ammonia synthesis and increase gas production consumption. This has something to do with coal!
Methane is an inert gas in the production of synthetic ammonia. It does not poison the catalyst and does not participate in the reaction. However, if methane is not removed in time and gradually accumulates in the system, it will reduce the partial pressure of hydrogen and nitrogen and reduce the ammonia synthesis rate. Our factory controls it to 10-15%.
Nowadays, every factory has a hydrogen extraction device, and the level of methane content does not have a great impact on the output of synthetic ammonia.
The key factor affecting the output is the amount of methane generated by the gas generation and conversion system, which is not closely related to the methane content in the circulating gas (systems with hydrogen extraction devices).
