In January 2026, the Liaocheng Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a approval announcement regarding the expansion project of the nitric acid production facility at Shandong Liaocheng Luxi Nitro Compound Fertilizer Co., Ltd. The nitric acid production capacity of the nitric acid plant at Luxi Nitro Fertilizer Company is currently 270,000 tons per year (on a 100% basis), and it came online in May 2014. According to the publicly available environmental impact assessment information, the expansion and renovation involve increasing the feed volume of liquid ammonia as a raw material, replacing the air filter cartridges, and raising the amount of air supplied ； Increase the catalyst loading in the ammonia oxidation reactor by raising the amount of platinum catalyst used in the ammonia oxidation furnace from 85 kilograms to 100 kilograms, thereby enhancing the ammonia oxidation capacity and extending the operational time of the facility. In the SCR denitration ammonia reduction reaction, conventional catalysts have been replaced with highly efficient selective structured catalysts to improve the efficiency of exhaust gas treatment. The number of bubble trays in the absorption tower has been increased from 40 to 44, enhancing the tower’s absorption capacity and enabling an annual production capacity of 320,000 tons of dilute nitric acid (equivalent to 100%). The expansion project is carried out based on the existing facilities, without altering their production processes. The project is located within the existing industrial areas and the expansion/upgrade zones of the Liaocheng Chemical Industry Park.
