Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to carry out energy-saving and carbon-reduction technological upgrades to its ammonia synthesis plant. Contents of energy-saving and carbon-reduction renovation and construction: 1. Utilization facilities for hazardous waste – Building new storage facilities for hazardous waste and pre-treatment units for waste liquids, as well as devices for unpacking activated carbon, by making use of the existing gasification furnace and the company’s patented technology for producing water-coal slurry. After the project is implemented, a comprehensive utilization capacity of 40,000 tons per year for hazardous waste will be established (Phase 1). 2. Optimization of the gasification unit: one slag breaker was added to each of the two gasification furnaces ； A new set of graywater softening equipment with a processing capacity of 200 m3/h has been added; this equipment uses nucleation granulation technology to reduce the hardness of graywater to ≤300 mg/L ； In the existing process, a new heat exchange unit dedicated to the discharge of graywater is added to replace the current wastewater cooler in cooling the graywater, ensuring that the volume of graywater discharged meets the technical requirements and reaches a temperature suitable for acceptance by the wastewater pretreatment system ； An online thickness measurement system for pressure pipeline corrosion was installed on the process pipelines at 43 key locations in the two furnaces of the gasification unit ； During the transformation process, the flow rate of the high-temperature condensate pump was adjusted to 50 m3/h. 3. Adding a 705 third conversion furnace effectively reduces resistance and saves steam consumption for the syngas compressor. 4. Add a new primary scrubber tower: A new primary scrubber tower is to be installed downstream of the existing 706 untransformed gas scrubber tower. 5. For the comprehensive utilization of thermal energy from low-temperature exhaust gases, a new set of low-pressure steam heating furnaces (waste gas incinerators) will be installed to superheat low-pressure saturated steam at 0.6 MPa, with 7.0 MPa saturated steam being produced as a by-product; this system includes facilities such as incinerators and high-pressure steam generators. In January 2026, the Quzhou Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a approval announcement regarding the environmental impact assessment report for the energy-saving and carbon-reduction technology renovation project of the ammonia synthesis plant at Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd. Zhejiang Jinju Company uses 2 Jinhua furnaces for 3.0 water-coal slurry gasification, and through processes such as shift conversion, methanol washing, liquid nitrogen washing, and three-bed radial Cassali ammonia synthesis, it has an annual production capacity of 350,000 tons of ammonia.
