The Luxi Chemical Industry Park’s project for a raw material supply platform aimed at extending and strengthening the industrial chain… Luxi Chemical plans to carry out projects to extend, supplement, and strengthen the industrial chain (through a raw material supply platform). The Raw Material Supply Platform project involves the construction of two 3,000 t/d gasifiers, as well as air separation, integrated ammonia synthesis, sulfuric acid, liquid carbon dioxide and other facilities. The processes for all main units in the proposed project utilize the currently leading technologies in the industry. Among them, coal gasification utilizes the HT-L 6.5 MPa quench-type pulverized coal pressurized gasification technology, cryogenic air separation, isothermal shift combined with waste heat recovery shift, rectisolve low-temperature methanol washing for acid gas removal, nitrogen wash for gas purification, and low-pressure ammonia synthesis technology. Sulfuric acid is recovered using the acidic gas-wet method. Liquid carbon dioxide is produced using a combined process of catalytic oxidation and distillation. Cryogenic separation process is used for CO separation. Process configuration: Air separation – Construct two new air separation units with an oxygen production capacity of 65,000 m³/h each. It employs molecular sieve air purification + high-efficiency two-stage distillation, air pressurization, refrigeration via a turboexpander and a liquid expander, and an internal compression process for liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen. Gasification: 2 HT-L 3000 t/d pulverized coal gasifiers, using 6.5 MPa pressurized cooling for pulverized coal gasification, to produce 400,000 m3/h of effective gas. Transformation: two-stage isothermal transformation + waste heat recovery technology for the boiler process, Co-Mo-based sulfur-resistant transformation process. Acidic gas removal, Rectisolve™. Gas purification – Liquid nitrogen washing process. The effective gas treatment capacity is 230,000 m3/h. Ammonia synthesis: Low-pressure synthesis process. 900,000 tons/year of synthetic ammonia. One set of liquid CO2 plant: a plant capable of producing 1 million tons per year of liquid carbon dioxide. Dry adsorption for desulfurization, catalytic oxidation for dehydrogenation, temperature-swapped adsorption for dehydration, and liquefaction distillation processes are employed. Upon completion, the project will produce 400,000 m³/h of useful syngas, along with 900,000 tons/year of ammonia, 640 million m³/year of carbon monoxide, 720 million m³/year of syngas, 30,000 tons/year of sulfuric acid, and 1 million tons/year of liquid carbon dioxide. The production capacities of liquid ammonia, carbon monoxide, and syngas can be adjusted according to downstream demand; the maximum production capacity for both carbon monoxide and syngas is 120,000 m³/h each. Additionally, the air separation unit will generate 65,000 tons/year of liquid argon, 60,000 tons/year of liquid nitrogen, and 10,000 tons/year of liquid oxygen as by-products. The proposed project is located in the newly built plant area of the Liaocheng Chemical Industry Park. The project investment is 7.2 billion yuan. After completion, the project will be operated by the Coal Chemicals Division 1 of Luxi Chemical Group Co., Ltd. The First Coal Chemicals Branch was established in 2025 through the merger of the former First Coal Chemicals Branch (West Area) and Second Coal Chemicals Branch (East Area) of Luxi Chemical Group Co., Ltd. It mainly produces syngas, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, synthetic ammonia, as well as carbon dioxide and potassium formate, all of which are used by the downstream facilities of Luxi Chemical Group to produce high-end chemicals and new chemical materials. In February 2026, the Shandong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued a public notice regarding the acceptance of the project aimed at extending, supplementing, and strengthening the industrial chain in the chemical industrial park of Luxi Chemical Group Co., Ltd. (Raw Material Supply Platform).
